Can sharing economy succeed in Asia?
-Consumer acceptance of Uber, Airbnb in Asia-

Many of you may have probably heard someone or even yourself say “I’ll Uber home” or “we’ll Airbnb a place for the next vacation.” When a business name becomes a verb, you know it’s taken off. But how far it has taken off can differ by country and region, and no region is as diverse as Asia.

At Rakuten AIP, we were curious about how local consumers in key markets of Asia, namely Japan, Singapore and Vietnam, perceive those sharing economy / businesses, and surveyed them with a specific focus on Uber and Airbnb. To put things into perspective, we also surveyed consumers in the US and compare the result.
